Day 6: Los Angeles CA
Welcome
Yesterday we played our largest show of the tour to date at the historic Regent Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
We awoke to find ourselves parked outside the Regent Theatre in downtown LA after a nighttime drive along the California coast down Route 101. I checked my phone and was immediately confronted by an Airpods Max Detected notification with several probable intercepts along the route we had driven.
Soon thereafter we were joined on the bus by our manager Apple Baggios (fresh off a negative test) who arrived with a giant box of donuts from Donut Friend and a giant box of coffee. I enjoyed a strawberry donut for my breakfast.
I had barely wiped the crumbs from my mouth however when I was hit by another Airpods Max Detected notification, this one much closer to home and with the embers still warm.
Unfortunately there weren’t a huge amount of Covid-safe activities in the vicinity of the theatre so we spent most of the day in the greenroom when we weren’t loading or sound checking. Playing to a sold-out crowd of 1100 people was scary and exciting, but LA were a warm and appreciative audience.
As per usual Tristan gave us few rounds of Zelda after the pack-out.
To close the night we watched the first half of Hal Needham’s 1986 BMX cinematic masterpiece Rad. The highlights pictured are the first nail-biting first BMX race and the iconic bike dance.
The bus tour continues today and I’m thrilled to showcase Cockpit Cupboard 2, located immediately to the right of Cockpit Cupboard 1.
