Day 7: Pioneertown CA
Welcome
Yesterday we visited the Wild West and played a show at Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace.
It is only a two hour drive from LA to Pioneertown and I woke up near the end of the journey as we were driving through the San Bernardino high desert. Located 150km east of LA, Pioneertown is a live-in 1880s themed movie set that was established by a group of investors in 1946. It is now owned by San Bernardino County and is open to the public as well as still operating occasionally as a film set.
After a quick look around the town I completed my COVID test and then arranged some fruit for breakfast.
Tristan and I went for a run on a local trail and were blown away by the scale of the rock formations.
This was the smallest show to date on the tour but it didn’t disappoint. Pappy and Harriet’s was a fun and friendly venue to play in and we enjoyed the steamy room and tiny stage.
Today we continue our tour of the bus with a look at the forward lounge main lighting panel.
I’ll leave you today with a song written to help promote the original Pioneertown endeavour.
If you feel like having a go at home I’ve added the sheet music below. And if you feel like sharing a video of your performance send it through!
