Day 14: Atlanta GA
Welcome
Yesterday we played a show at The Masquerade, in Atlanta, Georgia.
I woke up to the hum of the generator and the gentle trickle of the Pryor Street Waterfall. Upon venturing outside the bus I immediately felt the change in temperature from our 600km Eastward journey. Overnight we had crossed into Eastern Standard Time, our fourth timezone of the tour.
Liz and I went for a walk to secure breakfast and ended up at Reuben’s Deli on Broad Street NW. I ordered a Reuben. Along the way we passed the famous Walgreens Coca-Cola sign on Edgewood Avenue.
After breakfast I went for a jog around some of Atlanta’s famous landmarks. I started at the Capitol building and then jogged through Centennial Olympic Park on the way to the CNN building.
The Famous Olympic flame, lit during the opening ceremony by the 1992 Barcelona Ment’s Pole Vault Gold medalist Maksim Tarasov who vaulted up to deliver the flame.
To get to our show we had to travel through a long series of underground tunnels and sadly there was a casualty along the way.
The highlight of the night was a visit by the promoter’s dog Milo.
