Day 13: Perth, pt 4
Welcome
Yesterday was our last day in Perth. Tristan and I walked to King's Park and checked out the botanical gardens. Liz and Jon did their square best to make us look bad, spending the day doing band admin and other productive pastimes.
Tristan and I started our day with a run along the Swan River and then into town, finishing at Saigon Pastry House where we ate breakfast. I had a Mohingar (Burmese noodle soup).
We went back to the hotel and after refreshing ourselves set off towards King's Park, stopping at UNIQLO along the way so Tristan could buy a new pair of jeans.
We reached the park in the early afternoon and spent a couple of hours looking around the gardens. The wildflower pavilion was especially stunning and as much as I wanted to pick a plant of the day it was simply beyond me.I have collected a few of my favourites and I would love to collate your votes if you be so kind as to leave them in the comments below.
Another highlight of King's Park was the DNA tower, a 15m high double helix staircase with 101 steps. This was built in 1966 and stands at the highest point in the park atop paving stones sent from eleven towns and eighty shires in western Australia.
Beth of the day goes to Liz for eating instant ramen for breakfast, navigating a foreign postal service to send vinyl records overseas, and for borrowing the hotel weigh scales to make sure we could take all of our luggage on the flight the next morning. Excellent behind the scenes work Liz, a solid win.
