Day 11: Toronto
Welcome
Yesterday we had a day off. We slept in, and then crossed the border into Canada, heading to Niagara Falls for some sightseeing before continuing to Toronto.
We breakfasted at Clique, a diner that was recommended to Liz by a fan. I ordered a western omelette with pancakes, and we all shared a corned-beef hash.
We drove across the spectacular Ambassador Bridge to get to Canada.
The Ambassador Bridge is a four lane Suspension Bridge with a total length of 2,286m. At the time of it's completion in 1931 it had the longest suspended span in the world at 560m. It is owned by American billionaire Manuel Moroun and is currently the only privately owned border crossing in the United States.

The Niagara Falls were absolutely breath-taking. The Horseshoe Falls (pictured) are 790m wide, 57m high, and are traversed by more than 2,800 cubic metres of water per second. The flow of water is halved at night and during the low tourist season in the winter, with the balance going to hydroelectric facilities.
While we were driving to Toronto and marvelling over the 'wonder' we had just seen, we made the shocking discovery that the Niagara Falls are not one of the seven natural wonders of the world. This led to a game in which we tried to guess the seven wonders, which Liz absolutely dominated. Here is the list just so you don't ever face the same kind of disappointment we did.
Aurora Borealis
Harbour of Rio de Janeiro
Grand Canyon
Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Mount Everest
Paricutin
Victoria Falls
Beth of the day goes to Liz for remembering the breakfast recommendation, for guessing the most wonders, and for sitting through season two of Stranger Things so Tristan could finish watching it, even though she really wants to start watching season three. You're better than any of us, Liz.
